For Lynn Gaubatz, an acclaimed classical musician and avid reader, a love of books inspired her to create a place where old books could find new homes. At her website, Lynn says people who have books they no longer want can connect with schools and libraries across the world that are in need of reading materials. Since founding the site in 2002, Lynn says over 250,000 people have donated books that may have otherwise ended up as environmental clutter. "Donors can be encouraged to keep books from going into landfills and to release them to people that really could use them," she says. |
