In August 2005, the world watched as Hurricane Katrina swept ashore and wrecked havoc on the Gulf Coast. Millions lost their homes, and more than 1,000 lost their lives. It's been two years since the wind and rain subsided, but the storm rages on. The Washington Post reports that the suicide rate in New Orleans has skyrocketed 300 percent, and the murder rate is spiraling out of control. Two years ago, CNN's Anderson Cooper reported from the devastation as a special Oprah Show correspondent. Now, he returns to the Gulf Coast to make good on a promise he made to those who survived America's worst natural disaster. |
