Lucy feels it's important for everyone to be aware of what's happening around the world and to take action. "I don't think there's ever such a thing as not being a participant in something," she says. "And I think America is one of the most generous countries in the world. … We can participate by loose change—even a penny for UNICEF counts."

Oprah applauds Lucy for sharing her stories. "When you see those mothers sobbing with their children—their pain is exactly the same as yours," Oprah says. "They feel the same way about their babies, their families and their losses as you feel about yours. … Thank you for making that real for us."
