Pro-Anorexia on the Web

Holly Hoff "With the pressures to be thin in our culture, [these websites are] like placing a loaded gun in the hands of someone who is feeling suicidal." — Holly Hoff of the National Eating Disorders Association

The Truth About Pro-Anorexia Websites
Pro-anorexia websites showcase disturbing photos, commandments on being skinny and more. They normalize and encourage dangerous behavior relating to eating disorders.

Extreme weight loss is applauded and female perfection is measured by the size of a girl's arms, legs and thighs. They offer tips on everything from how to avoid eating to "sport vomiting."

Holly Hoff, of the National Eating Disorders Association, has been fighting to get these sites removed from the Internet. Although Yahoo recently removed them from their search engine, these dangerous sites continue to resurface. If your daughter is visiting pro-anorexia sites, she could be in serious trouble and in need of help.
