Do the Research First Howard Safir says that before you do anything, you should call your local police department and find out how many untested rape kits are backlogged in your area. Reaching Elected Officials If there is a backlog, send a letter to everyone who has the power to help: your local police department, legislators, mayor, alderman and even the president.
