More How to Do Anything Better
Wonder No More!
How
many times have you wished to know the secrets to bigger, better
cleavage? The way to wear the season's hottest accessory? Which
panties will draw attention to your curves, and not its own lines?
Or the recipe for Oprah's favorite breakfast treat? No matter how
many times you've wondered about these things in the past, from
this moment forward you'll wonder no more… because we're
teaching you how to do everything better!
Cosmo
Cleavage Secrets
Some
women are blessed with great cleavage. The rest of us need a few
tricks to make "our cups runneth over," as Oprah says.
Elaine Farley, fashion director for Cosmopolitan magazine
says there are five simple techniques that models and photographers
use to create copious cleavage.
Special Bras — the Wonder Bra or other padded bras
can put a little bit more where Mother Nature skimped.
Curves or "Chicken Cutlets" — these silicone
"explants" are made from the same material as breast implants,
but you only insert them in your bra or swimsuit top.
A Rolled-Up Sock — when you don't have a Curve handy,
take a sock (clean, please!), roll it up, turn the end inside out,
and stick it in the side of your bra and underneath your breast.
You can cut the sock for less oomph, if you wish.
Make-Up or Bronzer — the approach is the same as contouring
your cheekbones: apply a little shadow to the hollow between your
breasts to emphasize separation and depth.
Pashmina!
You've
seen them on the streets of New York, on the pages of magazines
and today on the show. They're pashminas, and Glamour magazine
editor Charla Krupp calls these shawls made from the neck and belly
hair of Himalayan goats "the chic woman's security blanket."
But once you get your hands on one (or several!), what next? Before
illustrating the dos, Charla has a few don'ts:
 |
Don't
let the end hang below the bottom of your coat. |
 |
Don't
wear it against heavy wool — the pashmina is a substitute
for a coat. |
 |
Don't
just drape it over one shoulder. |
 |
Don't
wear it as a hat. |
So, what can
you do with a pashmina? These
five different looks will get you started.
Oh My, Oatmeal
I
love a great bowl of oatmeal," says Oprah. You're going to love
her oatmeal recipe. First, start with steel cut or "Irish" oatmeal.
There are many brands available, but Oprah uses McCann's. Look for
it in the cereal aisle of upscale groceries everywhere. Prepare
it according to the directions, then add these special Oprah breakfast
treat touches:
Hazlenut Low-Fat Creamer "This is the big secret,"
says Oprah.
Chopped Dried Fruits and Nuts Try cranberries, raisins,
dates, walnuts or almonds for great crunch and texture.
Cinnamon It's the perfect complement to all those
other flavors going on in your breakfast bowl.
Beautiful Blooms
Celebrity party planner Colin Cowie believes color says a lot when
it comes to flowers. Consider these pointers when you're sending
flowers:
Red It's the color of romance and in most cases not
appropriate to send to your boss.
Yellow It signifies peace and friendship.
Pink According to Colin it's appropriate if you're
looking for something "more girly."
White Colin says "You can never go wrong" with white.
It's always appropriate and elegant.
Oprah's
new favorite floral arrangement is called a "tussie mussie." These
tightly packed bouquets dry beautifully and can be kept forever.
Ours were made by Crest of Fine Flowers here in Chicago. You can
print out the picture above and show it to your local florist.
Crossing the lines
Nothing
ruins a good outfit like bad undergarments. And panty lines? We
want to banish them forever. Supermodel Emme has some great ideas
about the right underwear for the job. To smooth out everything
under a dress, she recommends a "body tube," available at Victoria's
Secret. Beneath white anything, wear nude-colored undergarments.
To eliminate panty lines under pants, try a "boy cut" brief. And
when you're wearing hip huggers, the underwear of choice is from
Hippies
they won't "rise
up!"
Bathing Beauty
After
a long day of looking "just right," nothing is more relaxing than
a long bath. The folks at New York City's Bliss
Spa have some great ideas. First, remove all make-up, so your
skin will get the most benefit from the steam. Consider putting
on a hair masque or some cuticle cream. Do you want to scrub? Try
sea salt or lemon or orange juice mixed with baking soda to exfoliate.
Are you in need of some detoxifying? Seaweed available at
health food stores does the trick. And aromatherapy not only
smells good, it helps you feel better. Lavender, sage, orange or
eucalyptus are top choices. Soak, unwind and enjoy. Just remember
to moisturize after!
