Oprah's Book Club — Gap Creek

Oprah with booksOur book club selection this month is Gap Creek by Robert Morgan. It's about a young bride named Julie who lives a hard life in 1900 Appalachia. It's a book about how the human spirit keeps marching on, no matter how difficult life gets in the early 1900s.

In honor of Gap Creek, we're having an Appliance Appreciation Day on the show. You can't read this book without appreciating how hard life was.

Daughter of Fortune by Isabel Allende
Our book this month is Daughter of Fortune by a very popular Latin American author Isabel Allende. Oprah's friends all told her, 'Once you read her, you are hooked!' It's an unconventional love story — sensual, romantic, adventuresome. It takes place over 150 years ago during the San Francisco gold rush.
