Should You Be Doing That?
If
basic safety measures and common sense had been taken, today's guests
wouldn't be grieving over the senseless death of a loved one.
Cell Phone Safety
Rob
and Patti's daughter Morgan Lee, was killed in a car accident because
the driver who hit their car was distracted while using his cell
phone. After the death of their child, Rob and Patti learned that
cell phone companies recommend users not talk and drive. They still
believe cell phones are useful safety tools but should not be used
while driving.
Teen
Drivers
Car
accidents are the leading cause of death among teens. Over 60 percent
of teenage passenger deaths occur with a teen behind the wheel.
Today's parents say their child's death was the direct result of
too many teenagers in the car.
School
Bus Safety
Over
23 million children ride on school buses everyday. Unlike cars,
school buses are not required to be equipped with seatbelts. Nora's
daughter was injured in a bus crash that killed three children in
Minnesota. She believes a seatbelt could have saved lives, and should
be mandatory. Charlie Gauthier, Executive Director of The National
Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services,
says studies show there aren't any benefits to traditional lap belts
on school buses but says studies are being conducted to test the
benefits of shoulder belts.
