What's Your Passion?
Passion Unleashed!
Passion can make your life richer...in more ways than one. By recognizing
what makes you happy and simply doing more of it, you can create
a life for yourself that's as fulfilling and rewarding as those
we saw on the show. Vanessa Noel turned her childhood passion for
shoes into her own shoe design firm. Rebecca Cole grew her love
of gardens into a thriving business and a book entitled Potted Gardens.
And Alena Jerli turned her love of fine fabrics into a home linens
business called White Linen.More Tales of Passion You might think these stories are one-in-a-million, but all kinds of people are transforming their passion into profits. Wells Jenkins based her successful business on a dream (literally) and a joy for making jewelry. Sylvia Weinstock is famous for the stunning floral cakes she creates. Barry Levenson became the master of mustard when he decided to follow his passion for the yellow stuff. Susan Wirth's passion for pens has grown to a collection that now contains thousands. And Holly Knor's passion for helping animals has become a veterinary career that put her on TV's Emergency Vets. Love, Happiness, Anger, Frustration
Marcia
Weider, author of Doing Less and Having More, is a big-time
advocate of putting passion into your life. She says discovering
and expressing your passion is your best chance for happiness. Marcia
recommends paying attention to the things you love, the things that
make you happy and even the things that anger you. Strong emotions,
she says, are strong indicators there's passion in there somewhere.Your Personal Mission Statement Once you've discovered what it is that kicks your life into high gear, Marcia recommends writing a mission statement. It will help train you to look for ways to bring more of what you love into your life. And don't believe people who say passion is a bonus and not a necessity, she says. "Passion is life-giving!" Marcia said. Find It and Find Yourself Gardener Rebecca Cole describes herself as "the luckiest person in the world." Jewelry maker Wells Jenkins says, "I don't know what I did to deserve this." Sylvia Weinstock says making her cakes "is a great pleasure and I get paid for it, too. How can you beat that?" Mustard maestro Barry Levenson commented, "I can't imagine my life without mustard." And Oprah says passion is "the key to finding your life through love and service." What do you enjoy so much that you'd do it for free? That's your passion. May you find it soon, and may it serve you well. |
