A Many Splendored Thing
Is there anything more beautiful than love? The fantasy weddings we saw on Thursday's show could certainly give love a run for its money! When Hollywood and business royalty decide to tie the knot, they do so in ways that are fit for a king and queen. And InStyle magazine is there to show the rest of us how it's done. If you're a bride-to-be (or just a wannabe) read on for the latest and greatest ways to celebrate your love.

It's Not Just for Churches Anymore
Forget the church. Fantasy weddings today can take place anywhere. Barbra Streisand wed James Brolin at a clifftop on her Malibu home. Vivica Fox said "I do" on the grand staircase of LA's Park Plaza hotel. Businessman Chris Edgecomb married Mary Ann on his Santa Barbara estate, then limousined the entire party to a ranch bought especially for the reception.

Love Around the World
Cindy and Rande Red Chinese lanterns adorned Matt Lauer's wedding, and guests received two fortune cookies as a memento. (The fortune read "The love we give away is the only love we keep," definitely worth remembering!) In keeping with the location, Cindy Crawford's Bahamas nuptials were a casual affair. Cindy wore a John Galliano white slip dress and everyone, including the minister, was barefoot. Cheryl Tiegs's wedding took on the Balinese flair of her and husband Rod Striker's Bel Air home. And Melissa Rivers's wedding to John Endicott recreated a starry night in Russia.

Don't Just Sit There
More and more, wedding guests don't just watch the ceremony, they take part in it. At John Stamos's wedding to model Rebecca Romijn guests brought flowers which they added to a large recessional arch. Gifts for the guests are showing up at reception tables, too. John and Rebecca's guests received a jokey air freshener that featured a photo of the couple dressed up as prom-goers, and the invitees at Vivica Fox's big day received silver frames... and later, a picture of the happy couple to display in it.

Every Bloomin' Thing
Melissa With flowers, more is more. In addition to blossom-covered arches and enormous centerpieces, unusual blooms like Lily of the Valley, gardenias, sweet peas and orchids are appearing in bridal bouquets. Fruit and flowers made up the centerpieces at Melissa Rivers's wedding, along with floral "still lifes" displayed in gold frames. Preston Bailey is responsible for the designs, and says Melissa's mother, Joan, kept telling him, "Go for it, keep going for it." He did. The flowers alone cost $350,000.

It Tastes as Good as It Looks
Along with every other aspect of weddings, cakes are becoming more elaborate as well. Antique or custom-made cake toppers are replacing the plastic bride and groom we've seen so often. Tracy Bingham had the swing in which she was proposed to recreated for the top of her cake. Rebecca Romijn's angel food cake was covered in white confectionery roses. Margaret Braun, cake maker to the stars, brought a gorgeous cake to our studio that was more art than food. It included a sugar chalice at the top and real gold leaf and dust on its elaborately decorated sides.

Queen For a Day
Tiaras either replace the traditional veil or are added to it, along with hair jewels and diamond-studded barrettes. Jasmine Guy wore a tiara at her wedding, as did Vivica Fox and former Baywatch star Tracy Bingham. Jeweled butterfly barrettes made an appearance in Thandie Newton's curls.

The Bride Wore...
Vera Wang is still the designer to call when celebrities jump the broom. She designed the gowns for Melissa Rivers, Thandie Newton and Mary Ann Edgecomb. Escada is popular as well, and supplied dresses to Vivica Fox and Tracy Bingham. Donna Karan created a beautiful dress for Barbra Streisand in just two weeks, and Badgley Mischka designed a low-cut dress for Tracy Bingham.
