Even if your child or children aren't coming to you to discuss their feelings, as a parent, your behavior can greatly influence their emotions.

Honestly answer the following questions:

1. Do I feel like I've caused some of my child's sadness?





2. Did I tell my child/children about the divorce together with my spouse?





3. Have my ex and I fought in the past year?





4. Have I bad-mouthed my ex in earshot of my child/children?





5. Do I share adult information with my child/children, i.e. money, child support, my personal feelings about my adult world?





6. Do I feel I may have acted selfishly?





7. Has it been more than a few days since I spent one hour of uninterrupted time (no cell phones, TV, music) with my child doing something together like a hobby, playing sports, etc.?





8. Have I noticed a negative change in my child's demeanor?
