STAYING IN

"I've never been a khaki girl," admits Sandi Bass, left, who—still enviably lithe at 60—has always stuck to jeans or leggings. Now she's discovered that slim, cropped khakis (Loft, $60) feel lighter and easier for summer, especially paired with a peasant blouse (Ralph Lauren Blue Label, $345) and simple flats (All Black). "They're so comfy," says Sandi, "they'll help me get where I'm going a little bit faster"—like from her job as a model scout to daughter Christina's house to watch her grandchildren (Malea, 2, left, and Naima, 14 months).
Shell, Ralph Lauren Blue Label, $68

GIRLS' NIGHT OUT
Christina Copeland, a 29-year-old actress, right, steps out in a pair of cuffed cargo pants (Tommy Hilfiger, $68), a graphic blouse (Yigal Azrouël, $410), and platform wedges (Christian Louboutin). "This outfit is classy and funky," says Christina, who finds it a few notches above her usual jeans and tees. "I like it!"
