You're off to a stylish start. Navy is less expected than black for nights out, and easier on the complexion, too. As for shoes, you can ignore that old "navy and black don't mix" rule once and for all: Pairing your dress with black heels makes a flattering, sophisticated statement. You can also add sheer black tights, an evening-appropriate solution for those who don't want to bare their legs. Other footwear options: silver and gold (which really do go with everything), or a matching navy, which feels fresh. Deep blue heels used to be elusive (I've always told Oprah that if she finds a good navy shoe, she should snap it up). But there's a new wave available at every price point—Tory Burch and Ivanka Trump have great versions—so dip a toe in.
