Oprah and Valentino Photo: Roxanne Lowit
Long before I could afford even a scarf with his name on it, I loved Valentino's designs. To me, they represented femininity, elegance and grace, always with a touch of romance. Over the years, I watched as he dressed the legends—Jackie O., Audrey Hepburn—queens, princesses and everyday women who could afford his good taste, which is in itself legendary. I had the good fortune this summer to attend my first Valentino haute couture show. For years, like most people, I'd heard of couture but wasn't quite sure what all the hoopla was about. Now I get it, honey!
