Eyes: Artful Tools for Stunning Optical Illusions
Expert Advice: The foolproof way to wear a vivid or shimmery eyeshadow: Apply it very close to the upper lashes, says makeup artist Emily Kate Warren. With a stiff eyeliner brush, draw a thin line right along the lashline, or use a small eyeshadow brush to create a light wash of color no more than an eighth on an inch above the lashes.

Face: Six Magic Tricks for Exquisite Skin
Expert advice: The secret to natural-looking complexion perfection: Use foundation sparingly. Gently pat it only over areas that need coverage, says makeup artist Troy Surratt. If you're fair-skinned, you probably need to focus on your nose and chin; darker skin tones tend to show discoloration around the hairline. Complete the fresh-faced effect with a wash of pink or peach blush. Smile, then swirl it on the apples of your cheeks with a damp sponge (for a cream formula) or fluffy brush (for a powder).

Lips: Rich New Ways to Mouth Off
If you're wary of highly pigmented lipcolor, dab it just on the center of your upper and lower lip, says makeup artist Pati Dubroff. Press your lips together, then use your pinky to distribute the pigment for a stained effect. To intensify the color, tap the color again on the center of your lower lip only and lightly blot.
