Makeovers
Five women swear off the too-tight, too-loose, too-young, too-frumpy outfits of the past to start 2011 on the right foot.

Shannon Bumgarner after shot
After

The rescue: A V-neck jersey top is both modest and becoming, helping highlight Bumgarner's natural hourglass shape by cinching her waist and fitting (without amplifying) her bust. Since she's narrow on the bottom half, Glassman suggests a pair of slim trouser-style pants for a pop of color. "My husband will definitely like this look," says Bumgarner. "I need to get into the mentality of, "Don't tent it; that's not going to help."

To flatter a busty figure:
  • Avoid oversize tops, which bring attention to your chest and make you look bigger overall.
  • Show some skin. A V-neck elongates your torso and draws the eye upward to your face.
  • Stick to shirts with some stretch in the fabric (this goes for button-downs, too), which won't pull or gape at the bust.

Top, M Marc Bouwer for QVC, $39. Pants, Magaschoni, $598. Bangles, Noir Jewelry and Georg Jensen. Shoes, Christian Louboutin.
