Q: I love my moisturizer with SPF; can I wear it at night?

A: Most moisturizers containing an SPF compromise their hydrating properties to accommodate the sunscreen, says Zoe Draelos, MD, editor of the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. At night, when your skin is repairing itself, it's better to use a moisturizer formulated to improve the skin's function, says Draelos. (Try Lumene Vitamin C+ Nourishing Night Care, $19, or PCA Skin Silkcoat Balm, $36.)

Bottom line: Wearing a moisturizer with SPF at night won't harm you, but it isn't the best thing you could be doing for your skin.
