Q: The holidays bring out the most embellished clothes. I love them, but how do I avoid going overboard?

A: All year long my mantra is "A little goes a long way." Flash is always more flattering in small doses on demure—not tight or revealing—clothing. Otherwise the effect can be cheap, and you might end up highlighting figure flaws. Here are some easy ways to shine without lighting up like the ball in Times Square.
