Kai Milla

Stevie Wonder has been making beautiful music for decades—but he's not the only artist in the family! While Stevie plays the piano, Kai Milla, his wife of seven years, creates designs for her own fashion line.

Kai began drawing at age 5, and studied fine arts in school. When she was a teenager, Kai started designing her own clothes—and found a new passion. "Fashion won in the end," she says.

Kai launched her own fashion line, and now she's visiting The Oprah Show to reveal items from her Spring 2008 and Resort collections.
The azure blue matte jersey short twist dress

The first piece, an azure blue matte jersey short twist dress, is featured in the November 2007 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine. "The 'every woman's dress,'" Kai says. "I call this one my 'any time day or night' dress. We did a great little twist detail on it, so it really complements the figure."
The lilac artisan stripe silk gown

The lilac artisan stripe silk gown is made of silk chiffon and features pleating, rope knotting detail and semi-precious stones.

"Oh my gosh," Oprah says. "Don't you dream of yourself in a dress like this?"
The azure blue crepe back satin tier dress

The azure blue crepe back satin tier dress features transparent netting at the neckline. "It's really great because the tiers allow movement, and it's not going to show everything," Kai says.
The trench coat

Kai says the silhouette of this chic design is a twist on the classic trench coat. "What we wanted to do with this is style it [like] a dress, but you can also wear it with pants," Kai says. "[Add] great accessories with this, and you're good to go."
The cocoa taffeta soft pleat top and black basket weave pencil skirt

Kai's "new executive girl" look includes the cocoa taffeta soft pleat top and the black basket weave pencil skirt. "We're taking some of the taffeta into the daytime office, but also … you're ready to go cocktail," she says.

"You are promoted!" Oprah says. "That is so lovely."
A light gray rough linen pleated top and white stretch boot-cut pants.

As part of Kai's Resort line, a light gray rough linen pleated top sets off a pair of white stretch cotton boot-cut pants. "It's great for any day or night," Kai says.
The white knit kimono top and linen long shorts

A white cashmere/cotton knit kimono top is paired with the sage basket weave linen shorts, which are perfect for a warm summer day.
The abstract Klimt chiffon stripe pleat gown

The abstract Klimt chiffon gown's bold pattern includes a range of colors, from shades of brown to yellow, green and orange. "This is great for any woman because it is a sophisticated color in print and anyone can wear this," Kai says. "It's also giving where we allow layers of fabric. You know, you can eat."

Oprah says Gayle, her best friend, would love this look. "She likes a lot of color," Oprah says.
The tulip print charmeuse sheath dress

The tulip print charmeuse sheath dress features a flower pattern on basic black and white. "This dress here is what I call the perfect balance for wearable and chic," Kai says. "It's very simple, but also at the same time it's just very flattering."
The tulip embroidered tulle short dress

Oprah says this tulip embroidered tulle short dress is her favorite piece in Kai's collection. "It's so Audrey Hepburn-like. Audrey Hepburn, but yet so modern, so now," Oprah says. "I love this dress so much I think it needs a name."
The black pepper matte jersey draped gown

Diane models the black pepper matte jersey draped gown with a beaded wide strap at the shoulder. Kai says she added extra details on the back of the dress to create a stunning exit. "That's what that dress says—'You will pay attention when I leave the room,'" Oprah says.
The parsley green, iridescent chiffon drape gown

A woman wearing the parsley green, iridescent chiffon drape gown featuring a beaded choker and a plunging neckline is also ready to make a dramatic statement.

"No jewelry needed for this. We already added it in," Kai says.
Stevie Wonder's daughter, Aisha

Stevie Wonder's daughter Aisha models the last outfit in Kai's collection. Her dad celebrated her birth by writing the 1976 hit song "Isn't She Lovely."

Kai says Aisha is ready for the red carpet in this amethyst silk jersey pin-tucked, beaded gown. "And it's the color purple!" Oprah says.

You can find Kai's fashions at www.kaimilla.com, Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue in Chicago and other specialty stores.
