Every month in O, The Oprah Magazine, creative director Adam Glassman writes a column that offers fashion advice to women of all ages, shapes and sizes. Gayle talks with Adam about his column for the September 2008 issue and his fall fashion advice.
In "Adam Says…Yes You Can!" Adam shares looks for real women who feel they are too old, fat, short or shy to wear fall trends. "I think everyone can wear fashion if they work at it," he says. "Everyone can wear some version of a trend and adapt it to their body, and that is why I say, 'Yes you can'—because I think too many people give up." One rule Adam says all women should live by when it comes to trends is: "If you are old enough to have remembered and worn a trend when it first came around, chances are you probably want to leave it in your memory and not reinvent it again," he says.
Something Adam says every woman can try this fall is wearing a brooch. Here are few tips when it comes to wearing a brooch fashionably:
Wear brooches from flea markets and your grandmother's broach with broaches from a department store.
Cluster the brooches together on a turtleneck or cowl-neck sweater.
Close a cardigan with several antique-looking brooches.
