How to Care for Your JeansWhether they're colored, coated, or regular blue jeans, the way to clean them without excess fading is the same, says Nicole King-Burroughs, design director for the women's 1969 collection for Gap. "Turn them inside out before washing, use cold water on a gentle cycle with a minimal amount of soap, and keep them inside out when you dry them," she says. Another trick? Put them in the freezer for 24 hours, which kills odors without washing.
