1. Pop Goes the Makeup!
You'll find plenty of rich pigments in these gorgeously crafted eyeshadow palettes featuring variations on Pop Art icon Andy Warhol's Flowers and Self-Portrait silk screens. Wet an eyeliner brush, dip it into the periwinkle blue or the vibrant green, and draw a fine line close to your lashes. Or dust your lids with the rose pink or the lavender gray. Who knew being artful was so easy?

2. Vegan Beauty
If you're among the million Americans who have banished animal products from the kitchen (and maybe the closet), you likely don't want them in your makeup bag or shower, either. But are there animal-derived ingredients in your lip gloss or shampoo? Quite possible, says cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson. At least a dozen commonly used cosmetic ingredients have animal origins, including beeswax, lanolin (from sheep), whey proteins (from dairy products), and carmine (a red dye derived from beetles), as well as certain animal derived forms of vitamin E, omega-3 fatty acid, lactic acid, peptides and glycerin. A vegan beauty product should contain none of these ingredients—but because there's no federal standard for labels, you must read the ingredient list to be sure. In most cases, "vegan" also means that the product wasn't tested on animals (check the fine print, or call the company). We found a few vegan products even carnivores will love: Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Baked, 100% Pure French Lavender Hand Buttercream, SpaRitual nail lacquers, and Juice Beauty Purely Kissable Lip Color.

3. The Eyes Have It
We encourage you to treat yourself to three especially luxurious new eye creams this fall:

L'Oréal Paris Revitalift Triple Power Eye Treatment ($25; plumps fine lines with hyaluronic acid and smooths crepiness with glycerin.

Caudalie Vinexpert Anti-Aging Eye & Lip Serum ($75, is so gentle, you can use it on your eyelids, and one pump is also enough to soften your lips.

Kiehl's Rosa Arctica Eye ($46;, a rich balm, prevents moisture loss with squalane and shea butter; use it in the morning, too—its skin brighteners instantly lighten up the undereye area.

4. It's the Balm!
Who doesn't like a twofer? The new Blistex Moisture Melt is one part lip balm, one part gloss. Moisture beads with aloe extract and shea butter give lips a potent dose of hydration—and just one coat of the Melt provides a glossy finish with serious staying power.

5. Evening Stars
"Every night, after I slip under my cozy down comforter but before I grab my book (right now it's Ann Patchett's spellbinding State of Wonder, I squeeze a generous dollop of L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream in Date Bouquet into my palm. If my hands are really chapped, I mix it with a dot of the ultrarich body cream. Then I dab on a little bit of the lip balm. Why does this brief ritual feel so indulgent? Maybe it's the Date Bouquet scent, fresh and fruity but not cloying; or the high concentration of shea butter—fantastic relief for dry skin. In any case, it's a lovely coda to a crisp fall day."—Val Monroe
