Behind The Scenes
January's O, The Oprah Magazine Fashion Shoot

New Year, New You

Kick-start 2004 with fresh, simple, streamlined basics for your closet. O Magazine 's team, led by photographer Fernando Bengoechea, traveled to the Mii Amo spa in northern Arizona to highlight this season's best: fluid cashmere knits, relaxed drawstring pants, comfy cotton sweaters. Check out these behind-the-scenes photos and more feel-good clothes in "The New Ease." (Page 124, magazine)

Nestled in the red rock canyons of Sedona, Mii Amo provided a breathtaking backdrop for the two-day photo shoot. "You actually thought you were in a postcard," says O's creative director Adam Glassman. "I felt so in touch with the earth." Mii Amo—a Native American term for "journey"—opened in 2001 as an extension of its larger sister, the Enchantment Resort. The 14 guest rooms and two deluxe suites are housed in pueblo-style casitas—each with its own fireplace—and shaded by cottonwood and sycamore trees. In addition to the standard array of beauty treatments, the 24,000-square-foot spa offers a serenity-inducing crystal bath, weightless warm water Watsu massage (for increased flexibility), and serene walks through Boynton Canyon. For more invigorating activities, there's mountain biking and hiking, and classes that range from kickboxing to all-natural cooking. If measuring ingredients isn't high on your priority list, the Mii Amo Café features organic Asian and southwestern food, plus a stunning view of lava-colored cliffs. Packages for three to seven nights range from $1590 to $5740. Visit miiamo.com or call 888-749-2137 for more information.

If you would like to be considered for a future O, The Oprah Magazine "Real Women" shoot, please send your information.
