Hawaii photo shoot
Along with a margarita and a killer tan, the other must-have accessory for this summer is clean, cool white clothes. O Magazine's team, led by Creative Director Adam Glassman, traveled to the Mauna Lani Resort on the Big Island of Hawaii for a three-day photo shoot. Check out these exclusive behind-the-scenes photos and more bright whites in "Woman in White" on page 164.

Known for its black lava and ancient spring-fed fishponds, the Mauna Lani's 29 oceanfront acres provided the perfect tropical setting for the three-day photo shoot. "The whole place has a very lush, authentic Hawaiian feel," says Glassman. "And the spa is like a hidden oasis that you don't ever want to leave." The Mauna Lani Spa's outdoor area is modeled after a Hawaiian village, complete with treatment huts and a fragrant la'au ("healing") garden. Pampering here ranges from traditional treatments and facials to the unique lomilomi massage, which uses strokes that are choreographed to Hawaiian music. There are 345 guest rooms, 29 ocean villas, and five private bungalows that offer round-the-clock butler service. In addition to the two award-winning 18-hole golf courses, the resort has five restaurants, a Camp Mauna Lani program for kids ages 5 to 12, and almost three miles of white sand beaches. And since the Mauna Lani can produce more solar-powered electricity than any other resort in the world, this kind of indulgence is absolutely guilt-free. Rates from $385 to $1,050 a night for rooms; bungalows from $4,900. For reservations visit maunalani.com or call 800-367-2323.
