Cat fashion show - Matilda

New York City's Algonquin Hotel was made famous for hosting the members of the Algonquin Round Table (which included writers and artists like Dorothy Parker, Alexander Woollcott and Robert Benchley), but it gives guests of the furry kind the run of the house as well. The hotel's most famous and longstanding resident, Matilda, began welcoming patrons in 1930, when owner Frank Case invited the feline traveler looking for food and shelter into the hotel. Ever since, Matilda (and several generations of similar-looking "Matilda" cats after her) has overseen the comings and goings from the comfort of the luxurious lobby.

As reported by Gothamist, the Algonquin recently welcomed Matilda III (left), a rescue ragdoll kitty (whom you can follow on Facebook and Twitter), after Matilda II retired after 15 years of service. In celebration, last week they hosted a feline fashion show—complete with formal wear, feathers and plenty of attitude on the catwalk.

We thought there was no better way to congratulate the models on their glam new looks than witticisms from the hotel's cattiest human guests. And so we present Algonquin quotes for Algonquin cats.
