The Work to Be Done
The people who are thriving in their lives "did the work," Dr. Robin says. "Those people who have succeeded have made a very clear decision—that they're not going to be thrown and tossed to-and-fro by external circumstances."
Dr. Robin says that when she gets up in the morning, she makes a decision about how she's going to feel. "I don't look out and see well, if it's a cloudy day, it's going to be bad day; or if it's a sunny day, it's going to be a great day. I wake up telling myself how my day is going to go. Because I realize that I actually, I am the creator. I am the beginning and I am the end of how my day ends up going."
Dr. Robin says it's time to rid yourself of excuses about why your life isn't going the way you want, and instead do the work that's required to succeed. "It's not just about someone else. It's about [you]. … It's called responsibility. It's called accountability. It's called getting rid of every excuse that has cheated and robbed you of creating [your best life]."
