WOMBATSAfter winning three National Off-Road Bicycle Association championships and routinely beating 90 percent of the male competition, Jacquie Phelan (right) got sick of the mountain biking's aggressive image and decided she just wanted to have fun with the girls. In 1984 she formed the Women's Mountain Bike & Tea Society (WOMBATS), which now has a membership of 500 women riders of all ages and athletic levels.
