Martha Stewart's Spirit
"I just think animals are charming. I learn a lot from them." Martha Stewart
When it comes to appreciating the "good things" life has to offer, Martha Stewart says nothing lifts her spirits more than being with her cuddly companions. Animal House "I think animals really add something to a household. I can't imagine a house that's empty, quiet without any animals. I have eight Himalayan cats. I have three chow chows. I also have chinchillas; those are very cuddly, beautiful animals. I keep all my chickens separate. I used to name them. That was when I had 20 chickens; as you get into the hundreds of chickens, it gets a little hard to name them all!" Cute, Cuddly Friends "I have some cats who work in the garden with me. I know that if they had hands, they'd have a cultivator. They know every flower, they know everything. There are 13 baby ducks living in my pool. They have been taught how to swim and eat by [their] mom. She is extremely attentive with 13 babies to take care of!" Special Companions "I think the animals are my inner self. I look at them and try to understand them and their needs and desires and wants just as I would a child. I think I can understand what they're doing. My pets are companions more than anything else, and I consider them that. And I talk with them all the time. They certainly have taught me that I can be really tender, loving, caring and curious."
