Remembering Your Spirit

Life Changing Mission

Omari Tryce "It makes me appreciate everything more... everything. The spirit of Mandela lives in me now, I can't shake it."
— Omari Tryce

21-year old Omari Tryce grew up on the tough streets of South Central Los Angeles. Last year he traveled 10,000 miles with Quincy Jones to build Habitat for Humanity homes in South Africa.

Stepping Off the Plane
"The spirit is so intense you can feel it, when you step off the plane it's a sense of humanity, it's a sense of family."

"We also have come to work side by side with the South African people, to learn about the culture, and if possible, capture the spirit and take it back to the states."

In the Presence of Greatness
"When [Mandela] walked in, you can literally feel his presence. It's powerful... it is so powerful."

"And when I met him the first time, I just broke out into tears right then, I couldn't handle it. Everybody was in tears. They felt what I felt."

"I can't imagine spending a third of my life in prison, and coming out and being so humble, forgiving all the people who put me there."

Sharing with the World
"I find a joy in giving. I find joy in doing for other people. When I extend myself to other people, it fills a void within me."

"I want to help people realize what he realized, and what he helped me realize, which is it's so much bigger than me. It's about us. It's about everybody that shares this planet."
