Finding Your True Passion |
Question: How can I find my true passion?
Gary: Experiment with what gives you a sense of meaning and purpose. Do not limit
the shape or direction of this experiment. In other words, do not think that you
will discover your life's purpose in a few minutes. That can happen, but why not
enjoy the process of examining at each moment of choice which possible choice
gives you more excitement and meaning? You can start with small choices. Once
you have developed the practice of making choices that give you a sense of
meaning, you will find that your entire life is becoming meaningful to you.
This is not a mental experiment. You will never find meaning, purpose or passion
in your life by analyzing your life or trying to solve it like a crossword puzzle.
Step into your life as it is now and to the extent that you are able begin to ask
yourself, what gives me more energy? Ask yourself for example, which restaurant
shall I dine at? Which video shall I rent? What should I order at the restaurant?
You will discover that the idea of each possible choice produces different
experiences in you. Begin the practice of choosing the option that gives you the most energy.
That is how you embark on a meaningful life.
