Rabbi Shmuley says people who really feel that their lives are filled with so much pain and disappointment that they would have chosen not to have been born could be close to ending their own lives. "So many people wish they would not want to be born because they feel they have had no impact, that nobody loves them, that if they ceased to exist, no one would even notice," he says. "Our job is to make everyone in our vicinity feel like they matter." Sometimes people need you to deliver a sign or message that their life is worth living, and Rabbi Shmuley says you can do that by simply reminding others of how much light they can bring into the world.
"The two most important words that pertain to human existence are these: You matter. Our job as human beings is to make everyone in our sphere of influence feel that their very existence is of infinite consequence."
