Q: My twins are 8 months old and still don't sleep through the night. They eat every three hours. Help! I'm going crazy, I get no sleep. How can I get them on the same schedule?

Vicki: Turn off computer. Get in car. Go to bookstore. Buy Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. This book saved my life and turned both of my daughters into the most amazing sleepers on the planet. It explains in great detail how kids should be sleeping at what ages and what you can do to make that happen. (For example, if I remember correctly, the book says most kids are able to sleep through the night without a feeding at nine months. So you just have to hang on for one more month!)

In terms of what you can do to help them sleep, there are so many options in the book: crying it out cold turkey, letting them cry and going in to comfort them at appointed times, etc. You pick what you're comfortable with. We cried it out cold turkey (after a few tries of doing it less hard-core to no avail), and—despite all the wine I had to drink to keep myself from feeling like a monster while listening to her cry—it worked in three nights. She has slept through the night ever since. The best part? There's even advice for older kids. My 4-year-old was waking up at 5 a.m. all of a sudden. The book suggested putting a clock radio in her room and telling her she can't call for me until the music comes on. It worked. Best. Idea. Ever.

Feeling resentful? Is it normal?
