Every Monday night, as I snuggle with my husband, watching the nail-biting Monday Night Football games, I'm happy we were bonding. Seriously, I am so excited about football season—aren't you? No? Do I hear a groan? Did you just say you'd rather get shock therapy than sit down and watch a whole game?
I imagine you think you're like most women in America, but the fact is that more than 40 percent of the Super Bowl viewing audience is women, and they are not all watching for the commercials!
If you're really dreading football season's arrival, I want to help you turn your weekends around. I'm convinced that you understood the game of football, if you were hardwired to like it like most men, you'd enjoy it as much as any guy. You may even become hooked!
Ladies, what the guys won't tell you is that the National Football League (NFL) has more drama and gossip than any episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta
! They love, love, love gossiping about football, and there is a lot to gossip about. Players have reality shows, they go to jail and they date celebrities (no problem with that). During the last off-season, all sorts of syrupy NFL headlines captivated football fans: Quarterback Brett Favre's wishy-washy retirement plans; Michael Vick goes to the Philadelphia Eagles with his "tail between his legs" (pun totally intended); and dimpled quarterback Tony Romo breaks up with Jessica Simpson and is now with a new celebutante. The list goes on and on as the lines blur between the Sports page and the Entertainment page. There is always some backstory for any game, and it makes football more fun to watch. Why is Peete such a fan of the game?
