Although they might not always recognize it, fathers play an important role in their children's lives, Rabbi Shmuley says. He discusses the importance of having a father figure and about showing them gratitude for all they have done. "Fathers are often not appreciated," he says. "They see themselves as the providers to the family, a means to an end."
"Too many dads see themselves, or are treated by their families, as breadwinners and providers. They come home at night with no one to greet them. But by making an effort to have a dad feel appreciated and loved, we ensure that his humanity will be shared with the family rather than him becoming a permanent part of the couch."
