Alicia's Law: Stand Up with Alicia to Protect Children
Alicia's Law invests $1.5 million annually in expanding Virginia's two Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Forces, increasing law enforcement's capacity to crack down on Internet predators. ICAC officers are on the front lines of tracking cyber predators. Alicia's Law provides them desperately needed resources to hire and train additional investigators and build the infrastructure needed to catch these known offenders. Update:

aired on February 20, 2009, PROTECT met with Virginia Governor Tim Kaine's chief of staff, the Virginia deputy secretary of public safety, Virginia's director of finance, the Governor's deputy director of public policy and a representative from the Department of Criminal Justice Services. After a full briefing by the Southern Virginia ICAC, the Governor's chief of staff requested the Department of Criminal Justice Services submit a budget request on behalf of ICAC for fiscal years 2011 and 2012.It will be up to Governor Kaine in September to fully fund Alicia's Law and allow more children to be rescued.
