Playwright Eve Ensler
Ever since her world-famous play The Vagina Monologues began in the late '90s, playwright Eve Ensler has been celebrating and encouraging the empowerment of women. Now, Eve celebrates V to the Tenth, the 10-year anniversary of V-Day, an event she created to raise awareness and funding to end violence against women across the globe.

V to the Tenth will take place April 12, 2008, and will feature appearances by celebrities including Oprah, Jane Fonda, Salma Hayek and many more, in addition to the thousands of women that will gather for the cause. It will take place in New Orleans, where Eve says there is a need to raise awareness more than ever. In addition to V to the Tenth, thousands of other V-Day events will take place during 2008 in the United States and around the world.

"We need to see women," Eve says. "We need to pay attention to their suffering. We need to say, 'They are the people who hold up every community, who are the healers of the community, who are the people who find ways to do incredible things with nothing.'"
