He has a distinguished presence and a voice that everyone recognizes! Gayle talks with Academy Award® winner Morgan Freeman about his movies, his childhood and his new cookbook for charity.

Morgan was nominated for an Oscar® for his roles in Street Smart, Driving Miss Daisy and The Shawshank Redemption. It was his role in Million Dollar Baby that secured him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Morgan tells Gayle, while he was honored to be recognized for his work, he feels the Oscars are over-hyped.

"I for years have been talking the Oscar down," he says. "Somehow to me, there is a negative aspect to it for actors that shouldn't be. We go to work to work with each other. We enjoy the ensembleness of working together. If we come out with a good product that we've all taken part in, it seems wrong to single one of us out and say, 'This one is the best.' Because you can't be 'best' in a situation like this."

Morgan says of all his movies, his favorite was Glory, in which he played a soldier in the Civil War's first all-black volunteer company. "It had a lot of meaning, aside from being a really wonderfully made movie," he says. "It taught America something that it didn't know. … It was a great history lesson."

Morgan also talks to Gayle about one of his most recent projects, a cookbook of celebrity recipes compiled to help rebuild the island of Grenada after Hurricane Ivan.
