Having since overcome her own financial fears, Arianna shares her advice with others. For example, she offers insight about negotiating for a raise, explaining that women incorrectly view it as a fear-filled experience because they think they are supposed to be nice, accommodating and team players at all times. "It's so ingrained in us," she says. "If your husband has a job, and you also have a salary, there is an idea that you need to settle and be grateful."
How to Banish Your Money Fears
- Address them. Being conscious of them is the first step, Arianna says. "The minute you make fear conscious, it loses its power."
- Create a "fearlessness tribe" around you. This is a support system of people who are always in your corner—your personal cheerleading squad!
- Get enough sleep.
- Find something about yourself that you truly love, whether it's a body part or a personality trait. Don't dwell on the negative!
