The Peetes Open Up About Their Son's Autism

Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, Rodney Peete, aren't strangers to the curveballs of life. As an actress and NFL star, respectively, and as parents of four children, the duo have to be prepared for every challenge or unexpected development the world throws their way. Nothing could ready them, however, for their son RJ's autism diagnosis.

"We had a moment of severe sadness," Holly tells Oprah on Oprah: Where Are They Now? At first, Holly says, they thought they could love the autism away or banish it.

"Listen, I had witch doctors and Mormons coming to the house," Holly says. "I mean, I did everything, okay? We had people come pray with their hands on him. I mean, there was everything we could do. But in the end, it's about access to resources and therapies but we were blessed to have that."
