In 2002, Laurie Arslani was diagnosed with breast cancer just before her 35th birthday. The mother of two allowed Oprah Show cameras and Oprah to accompany her to her chemotherapy treatments, wanting the world see what she and millions of other women were going through to battle this disease.

"My reaction when I found out Oprah was coming to chemo was complete shock. I'm like, 'This is bittersweet.' Who doesn't want to meet Oprah?" she says. "But under those circumstances...but at least it gave me something to look forward to as I was going to my next treatment."

Today, Laurie has been free of cancer for 12 years. Watch the video above to catch up with Laurie and her children at her home outside Chicago.
