Name: Amy Ward
Job title: Co-executive producer, "Super Soul Sunday"
As a co-executive producer, what's your job like? Every day is different, but co-ep Lisa Weiss and I get to read some of the most influential books ever written, like Be Here Now; research and speak with thought leaders like Gary Zukav; supervise the production of interviews with spiritual teachers like Eckhart Tolle; and then oversee the editing of those conversations into "Super Soul Sunday" episodes with the help of our passionate and dedicated production team.
Education: I went to Northwestern University because I could take amazing classes in history and philosophy at the same time I was studying television and film production. It truly was the best of both worlds.
How long have you worked at Harpo Studios? Since September 2011. But I also worked on The Oprah Winfrey Show back in the mid-'90s.
Who would play you in a movie? People say I look like Maggie Gyllenhaal (sorry Maggie, I don't see it either), but I would choose Tina Fey because I would like to see a funnier me onscreen.
Favorite SoulPancake short: I've always loved Conversation Couch. Devon and Golriz have this wonderful way of getting total strangers to discuss life's big questions. Plus, I would love to own that spinning game-show wheel.
What music do you listen to in the car? I have pretty eclectic tastes, but in the car I like something with a good beat you can dance to, or in this case, drive to. The Black Eyed Peas or something old school like Earth, Wind & Fire would do just fine.
Favorite season: Spring. Chicago comes alive when the temperature rises above 45 degrees. Plus, I LOVE tulips and daffodils, and peonies are my all-time favorite.
Favorite workout: I like running because there are no excuses. I always have my own two feet, so I can't say I didn't do it because I missed the beginning of a class.
"If I'm not at Harpo Studios, you'll most likely find me..." At home with my favorite people on earth (plus my favorite dog!).
Hidden talent: I can sew. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not Project Runway material. But I made some new seat cushions that I'm pretty proud of.
Best lesson learned from a "Super Soul Sunday" episode: Live in the moment. Easy to say. Hard to do. But I keep trying.
If you could only have three apps, they would be: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram
Name three titles you'd recommend to someone in the mood for a great book: I Know This Much Is True and/or She's Come Undone, by Wally Lamb; Cutting for Stone, by Abraham Verghese; and The Poisonwood Bible, by Barbara Kingsolver.
What's next on your reading list? Wild, by Cheryl Strayed, of course! And I would also like to get to Let's Pretend This Never Happened, by Jenny Lawson.
Last movie you saw: The Hunger Games
Where do you find your "breathing space"? I love going for a walk or hike on a beautiful day. There's nothing like fresh air and sunshine to lift my mood and clear my mind.
