Former New Orleans Mayor on Removing Confederate Monuments: "They Had to Come Down"

CC | tv-pg
Mitch Landrieu, the former mayor of New Orleans, opens up to Oprah about his controversial, headline-making decision to remove four prominent Confederate monuments that had stood in his city for more than 100 years. "When I really got into actually who put them there, why they were there, what was going on, I pretty much knew that they had to come down," he says. "And then I just had to figure out how to get it done. And a lot of people had tried this before. A lot of people had worked on it, so I was standing on the shoulders of lots of people who had been through this issue for many, many, many years."
