Kristan's Blog: Behind the Scenes of Southern BBQ Vs. Festive Fiesta

Our premiere episode was a special one because it truly paralleled two emotion-filled experiences at opposite ends of the spectrum. A bittersweet send-off for Jade and an emotional homecoming for Blake. Both families were big mushy pots full of joy and pride and love (all the good ingredients) and I was crying like a baby for most of the 48 hours I spent with them.

But my favorite part about this episode was watching the forming of  NEW relationships OFF camera. It doesn't happen with every Family/Super Saver partnership, but some weeks a magical bond occurs, and this is exactly what went down in the Denson house.

The moment they met Roselind, they knew their party was in capable, caring hands and they embraced the idea that they could relax and just enjoy the following 48 hours.

So I was not surprised, but thrilled none the less, to find out that after our cameras had left and the party had been cleaned up and everyone had been gifted with the memory of this experience, Roselind and the Denson's relationship continued. They attend church together and talk often and all in all, it was a lovefest of epic proportions. I'm totally aware that I sound like a corny presenter of this story, but that's ok. I love a happy ending ; )

I'll see y'all right here next week!

xx,
