Beauty in Your Own Backyard

Posted: Tue 11/01/2011 01:00 PM

Carmen B. from California proves that you might not have to travel far to find nature's beauty—she took this photo in her backyard! She writes: "Sunrise, sunsets, flowers, hummingbirds, butterflies and so much more are (I feel) what Mother Nature offers to us everyday. We just need to take a moment so we take in and enjoy what is around us. I am happy to share this with you!"

What inspiring moments have you captured in your backyard? Share your photos now!

So, how much do you know about the environmental footprint you're leaving behind? Which is greener, printed books or e-Readers? Plastic wrap or aluminum foil? The answers will surprise you.

Beauty can be found in shared moments, too. Just ask Angela from Alabama: "This is a photo of my one day old son, Andrew, sitting in his great-grandmother's lap. She isn't shown, just her hands. The beauty of life—the juxtaposition of his skin against hers—is lovely to me. (My precious grandmother, Tuck, died last month. She would have been 100 years old on October 14th.)"

Cie sent us this photo from California: "In a dusty, back corner of one of my favorite garden centers near Santa Barbara, I happened upon this hidden agapanthus...the bloom was just getting ready to show its magnificent purple hairdo to the world. Beautiful in its brave almost there-ness, even though almost no one could see it yet. Pure potential. Just add 'Yes!'"

Thanks, Cie! Send us a photo of where you see beauty, and yours could be featured on this blog!
