Meet the Team: Heather McGinley

Posted: Thu 08/23/2012 10:30 AM
One of the best parts of "Super Soul Sunday" is hearing from you! We love getting to know our viewers through the great feedback you send us on Facebook, Twitter and right here at Oprah.com. Now, we want to return the favor by introducing a member of our team to the "Super Soul Sunday" community. This week, take time to get to know "Super Soul Sunday" producer Heather McGinley.

Name: Heather McGinley

Education: I hold a BFA in Production Management from The Theatre School at DePaul University (say that three times fast!)

How long have you worked at Harpo? I am coming up on my 9th anniversary at Harpo. I started out as a Runner for The Oprah Winfrey Show, which is a fancy term for the person who runs all over Chicago to round up the random and crazy things that a television show might potentially need.

Who would play you in a movie? Shaun White. He understands the daily emotional trauma inflicted by my unruly red hair.

Favorite SoulPancake episode: I love, love, love “Heart Attack.” Everyone needs a random act of kindness and love sometimes!

A Note from Oprah: Beasts of the Southern Wild

Posted: Thu 08/23/2012 10:04 AM
This Sunday I'll be talking to the cast of BEASTS of THE SOUTHERN WILD. It's filled with levels of inspiration. First of all the story itself. But the daring perseverance it took to get the movie done on a wing, a prayer and a shoestring budget from a 29 year old director who'd never done it before is what I think is so awesome. Behn Zeitlin and his team created brilliance on screen. I remember weeks ago on Super Soul Sunday actor and Soul Pancake creator Rainn Wilson said there is no difference between being creative and being spiritual.

This movie hits a real spiritual nerve with 6 year old "Hushpuppy" as the main artery.

Can't say enough about it. That's why I'm doing a whole show on it. Hope you see the movie then watch the people who made it happen on Super Soul Sunday live on OWN and streamed around the world on Facebook and Oprah.com 11a ET/PT.
