Former Vice President Joe Biden on Why People Abuse Power

In his Super Soul Sunday interview with Oprah, Joe Biden, who served two terms as vice president of the United States and was Delaware's longest-serving U.S. senator, reflects on the reason people abuse power.

"What is it, do you think, that it is about power that changes people, and how have you managed the power you've held?" Oprah says.

"I think the reason people abuse power is that they, in fact, are seduced by the notion that they are so self-important, that they really matter," he says. "In fact, it is not usually the case."

Here, former Vice President Biden opens up about the nature of power and reveals the traits that he believes the best leaders have in common.
