Aired: 01/27/2012
Dr. Oz and Rosie
About This Episode
During this two-part interview, Dr. Oz removes the purple gloves and gets personal. First, Dr. Oz opens up about his childhood, which was largely shaped by his parents, immigrants from Turkey. His father, a thoracic surgeon, allowed young Mehmet to accompany him during hospital rounds, and Dr. Oz says he was always fascinated by the healing energy he felt, even in the presence of death.

After graduating from med school, Dr. Oz says he had disquieting moments when he realized he didn't know it all. But over the years, Dr. Oz has learned many valuable lessons, including the importance of listening to patients.

During a taping of The Dr. Oz Show, Rosie opened up about her struggle to lose weight, and Dr. Oz showed her an omentum (the fat organ connected to the stomach). Since then, she says, she's thought about every piece of food she's eaten. Plus, Rosie shares with Dr. Oz why she's been going to the doctor with her fiancée, Michelle, in recent months.
