When a young Billy Bob Thornton left his small town in Arkansas to move to Los Angeles in June of 1981, he was barely scraping by. An aspiring actor, Billy Bob got a job at a pizza parlor and rented a tiny one-room apartment with his future writing partner, Tom Epperson. After paying rent, they only had $6 left each week to survive. Although they struggled, Billy Bob says, it only made his dreams stronger. Watch Billy Bob describe how sometimes "a powdered doughnut and a cup of rum seems like paradise."
