Yolanda's Blog: Episode 8

Posted: Wed 01/02/2013 02:42 PM
Watching Episode 8 was bittersweet in many ways. It was such a joy to see how each of the ladies evolve and grow through trials. On the other hand, it brought back the feelings I experienced that day. Approximately 10 minutes before the start of GI Jane Day, I received a call that we had a KIA. I had to put on my "game face" and keep that information to myself. It was difficult because my thoughts were with the loved ones of the fallen soldier.

The ladies really encouraged me. They did so without even realizing it! Observing the expressions of sisterhood took my breath away. We succored one another during GI Jane Day. We were able to put differences aside and "accomplish the mission." I love it! I believe that it is our differences that give us strength.

Thanks so much for sharing this journey with us. Your support of the show has been so comforting. We are so grateful to OWN, 44Blue, and the Pentagon for allowing us to tell our story. I am so honored to have been one of the seven ladies chosen to give you an inside view of life as a military spouse.  It certainly feels like I have been a part of HERstory (not just HIStory).

Morris and I are incredibly proud of the soldiers, spouses, and families of 4-25 Airborne Brigade Combat Team as well as the families who serve worldwide.  We pray for you daily. Please know that your sacrifice is not in vain. Army strong!!
