Sara's Blog: Episode 2

Posted: Tue 11/20/2012 10:24 AM
This episode starts off on such a somber tone. That first blackout was so incredibly hard for me. I had no idea how to feel or how to react. All I knew was that "somebody had lost their somebody" and it broke my heart. (To see a clip of me talking about the blackout check out the deleted scenes.) I was not at the first memorial because Gunner was sick, I was actually at the ER with him all night the night before and was then at a second doctor getting a second opinion (it was a double ear infection). I was able to go to Mrs. Goins after the memorial thanks to a neighbor that came over and watched the boys. Mrs. Goins actually saw how shaken up I was and called me that night to talk. She told me that it never gets easier but your coping mechanisms do get better. Those words are so true and I will never forget them.

I loved skeet shooting! I am a Texas girl, so I grew up shooting and hunting. I was proud that I shot it on the first try! Hopefully, I make my husband proud! Salina always has the best ideas. Going to the hospital with Salina was such a scary experience for both of us. At this point I am Salina's "person," meaning if she goes into labor, I am the one she calls! I will be the one holding her hand when that sweet baby enters the world. Knowing that I was always on high alert, I had a sitter lined up so I could be at Salina's side at any time day or night, so when the phone rang and she told me to meet her at the hospital I was on it! Thankfully, the baby was fine and we found out she was a GIRL!! It was an amazing honor and truly a "sisterhood" moment to be at her side when she found out the gender of her baby. The photo shoot for Terry was such an amazing idea and something they will both never forget. When your husband cannot be by your side for events like that you have to find different and fun ways to share that moment with them and make it special. Salina did a good job of doing just that.

I just have to say Brian did an AMAZING job of surprising Blair at the airport. That had to take a lot of planning on his part. What a good husband and dad! I cannot thank you all enough for watching the show and experiencing a little bit of our pain and joys! As I am typing this I have on gloves because our heater has decided to stop working, it is 5 degrees outside and my house is now 55! Brrrr...
